Court rejects Tesla push to reinstate higher US fuel economy penalties

WASHINGTON : A U.S. appeals courtroom on Thursday rejected Tesla Inc’s request to rapidly reinstate higher civil penalties for automakers who fail to meet U.S. fuel economy requirements.

The Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals had rejected Tesla’s request in April for fast motion pending the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s overview of the problem. Tesla once more requested the courtroom in August to take fast motion. The courtroom on Thursday issued a short order rejecting Tesla’s request.
