Global SinoPhoto Awards 2021: Photography contest turns lens on life in China

A village shadow puppet present, a shepherd grazing livestock and a pair of younger acrobats performing handstands are among the many scenes depicted in a images competitors shining a lightweight on life in China.

Now in its second 12 months, the annual Global SinoPhoto Awards — which is run in affiliation with the Lau China Institute of King’s College London — attracted virtually 2,000 entries from each skilled and newbie photographers.

Participants had been invited to submit pictures that “express, interpret and share their view of Chinese culture” throughout 4 classes: “Home,” “Environment,” “Work & Play” and “Water.” The finalists, which had been introduced this week, included photographers not solely from China, but in addition the United Kingdom, Poland and Ukraine.

Chinese photographer Li Huaifeng’s picture “The Dancing Dreams of a Mountain Girl,” which captures a younger woman twirling in entrance of her grandmother, received the “Work & Play” class and was additionally named the competitors’s total winner.
